Feb. 18, 2019 — “St. Nicholas Salvage & Wrecking,” the eighth thriller/mystery by local author Dana Haynes, is set for release March 5. Haynes, a Portland resident, is a past recipient of the Spotted Owl Award from Friends of Mystery.

He has served as a newspaper journalist throughout Oregon. His previous novels include three mysteries from Bantam Books and four from St. Martin’s Press.

<em is a thriller set in Cyprus, France and Serbia — places Haynes traveled to while researching this book.

Michael Patrick Finnigan, an ex-New York cop, and Katalin Fiero Dahar, an ex-soldier, spy and assassin for Spain, work together to track down the worst of the world’s worst and to deliver them to the International Criminal Court.

Haynes serves as managing editor of the Portland Tribune and several other Pamplin Media Group newspapers. A screenplay based on one of his novels made it to the finals of the Nichols Fellowship, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in 2010. He also received an award in 2011 for the best mystery novel written in the Pacific Northwest.
