Member Susan Stoner, writing as S.L. Stoner, has written nine Sage Adair historical adventure mysteries set in the very early 1900s. They feature a multi-ethnic, multi-racial cast of characters living in Portland, Oregon. Each story relies on extensive historical research and offers a Howard Zinn-like, progressive’s, view of history and the triumphs of ordinary people.

The ninth book, Unseen, takes place on an Indian reservation in the Willamette Valley. As Sage Adair and his friends struggle to comprehend the harsh reality of Indian reservation life, things turn ominous. An Indian Service inspector is murdered and time starts running out for a prominent tribal leader. Historical notes accompany the tale.
