About the Spotted Owl Award

The Spotted Owl is chosen by a volunteer committee of Friends of Mystery members, and is announced in the spring of the year. Judging is currently underway for the this year’s award.

For a book to be considered for the Spotted Owl Award:

  • The author must have primary residence in the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho or the Province of British Columbia.
  • Mysteries are considered each spring for the previous full calendar year (January 1 – December 31).

Bloody Thursdays

Our 2018-2019 Season is well under way. In March, we will feature a panel on mystery and crime graphic novels. Nancy Rommelmann joins us in May to discuss her book To the Bridge: A True Story of Motherhood and Murder. We close out our exciting year in May with a panel of mystery graphic novelists.
